Making Right to Manage work for you

For many flat owners, wrestling with poor managing agents, taking control of their building’s management is an attractive proposition. This has been made possible by the provisions of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002. Right to Manage (RTM) is often a good solution for flat owners seeking more autonomy over the running of their flats’ affairs. It does not require the landlord's permission, nor proof of any mismanagement nor necessitate any court order to exercise this right.  Nevertheless, setting up a Right to Manage company does need due process to be observed. Not all buildings will qualify and there are legal and financial implications that need to be understood.

At KFH, we have been helping and advising leaseholders for over 10 years. We know how to engage with freehold companies and residents to put together a comprehensive management strategy so that the building can be managed in a way that is best for all concerned and put together a maintenance regime to support the building’s residents for years to come.

KFH discussed and provided guidance on what could be undertaken to resolve some management control matters at our property. Prior to their appointment KFH held a discussion surrounding a Right to Manage company approach, putting us in contact with a trusted third party provider, allowing us to complete on this and then appoint KFH for the management of our property in Holland Park.
