Celebrating Black History Month at KFH

31st October, 2024

As October draws to a close, we look back at Black History Month and how we were able to celebrate the richness of Black History and culture at KFH. In our business, we are proud to bring people from a multitude of backgrounds, countries and cultures, together, providing us with opportunities to learn from each other.

Some of the activities we took part in throughout the month
  • We held a roundtable, filmed on the 42nd floor of the iconic HSBC building in Canary Wharf, where some of our D&I champions discussed what Black History Month means to them and to celebrate the changemakers from the Black community.
  • We toured HSBC’s awe-inspiring art collection, featuring the works from both prominent and upcoming Black artists including Michaela Yearwood-Dan, Virginia Chihota, Jonathan Lyndon Chase, Omar Ba and Jade Fadojuyimi, to name a few.
  • We recognised the importance and the power of allyship and how different backgrounds and cultures can shape our lives
  • Several new starters provided insights into why our D&I initiatives and culture were so important to them when choosing to join a new company.
  • D&I champion, Lavita Williams wrote a personal account of the rich history of Notting Hill carnival and how the celebration of Caribbean culture has united the diverse immigrant communities that have settled in London.
  • Our charity partner London Youth interviewed one of their ambassadors, Deon Barrett, a Black Englishman, who hopes to summit Mount Everest next year. He discusses the importance of access to outdoor learning, its impact on young people's mental health and why representation matters. See his interview here

At KFH, we know how different backgrounds and cultures can shape our lives, creating a diversity of experience, knowledge, skills and ideas that are integral to our success.
